Hydrogen fueling - on the fly - is here today

Mounting a fuel injection system in one of these is the best way to begin a bi-fueling sytem with Hydrogen using a special simple ECM. Try this link to a source for throttle body spacers.

So, your are wondering why can't I get this for MY car right now? The answer is pretty simple, and it is tied to the US Clean Air Act, and prohibitions under that and other laws. There are only two approved national motor fuels, Unleaded Gasoline and (now) Low-sulfur Diesel. Alternative motor fuels are Propane (LPG) and Natural gas (CNG) and they are waivers or exemptions to the law. Hydrogen is NOT an approved American motor fuel as of yet. That is not to say it is unlawful to use it, it is to say the vending stations have such restrictions on the actual vehicle itself before it can be registered, it is not worth the trouble. There is a serious motor fuel taxation and fueling safety issue hovering about Hydrogen use as motor fuel and on the fly fueling using it. For these reasons, manufacturers will not manufacture vehicles for general sale using Hydrogen as a fuel - tanked or made on the fly - for the general public. The same applies for CNG vehicles, they are both built as waiver vehicles to the gasoline version. Hydrogen is currently used by municipalities or fleets for Shuttle buses around airports - as Ford actually makes a supercharged production hydrogen engine they put in their cut away version of shuttle buses which run on tanked hydrogen in usually a loop around an airport where Ultra Low Emission regulations are in effect. The law is not bad - it just controls emissions the only way it can - including engine control operation and fuel quality that the engines use. An emissions control system can only control so much of the exhaust which comes out. Certain fuels are going to burn in certain ways and that is that. You may have heard about "Oxygenated Fuel", and this is the term used to say it has a less complex carbon chain so it burns more cleanly and completely. For instance alcohol (Methanol, Ethanol and yes even Isopropyl alcohol, burns very clean, but the BTU per gallon of thermal content per gallon is low - and so is the vapor point is high, meaning in cold climates the Alcohols want to stay more of a liquid and thus do not combust easily, and the power per gallon is lower than Gasoline. Thus is would be harder to start an engine on it on colder days, and you would get lower miles per gallon because you get less power out of each stroke of the piston. The answer from the major Environmental governmental concerns (the EPA and CARB - the California Air Resources Board) is to increase the amount of alcohol in gasoline, which while making it less powerful and cause you to get poorer mileage, it will emit a cleaner exhaust. To anyone who knows anything about engines, the only way to bring BACK performance is to then boost the engine by turbo or supercharging. GM has finally awakened and is now putting out vehicles which have supercharged engines. The hottest one they have released now is basically a SBC (small block chevy) engine with a supercharger that is now about 366 cu in, (6.0 L) they originally designed for the Corvette and then also offered as an option in the Camaro, has now found it's way into the Cadillac CTS-V See their sexy commercial for the CTS-V on Youtube => http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D9B3LJcdM0 We sell a kit which makes YOUR small block into a 600 HP supercharged engine - similar to the CTS-V engine, but will run on Hydrogen made on the fly as well as Gasoline and is street legal. Each vehicle application is different and it is NOT for street racing, it is licensed on a per case by case basis, and it is not something for the average driver. The kit is made using GM parts and supercharging system, and historically GM controls. Yes, the on the fly Hydrogen fueling system could be put on the CTS-V also - in a very special manner so as to not run afoul of the law, but the hydrogen Generator system would consume most of the trunk area. Vehicles are designed from the factory packed in an efficient use of total space, and not really with room to spare these days under the hood or anywhere else. It fits easily on vehicles with room to spare like an RV, Truck, Box type delivery Truck or Bus. It will be here for sale soon, and currently is available for up to a 1995 Generation II SBC engine and and you can create and account and when it is available, a newsletter will go out.
